Quick File Post FAQ

How to I download files?

You need to have a link to the file that you would like to download. You can only get this from the person that uploaded the file in the first place.

Why is your file size limited?

This is a free service. As a free service we have limited resources. In order to allow the service to remain free for all we have decided to limit the file size to 20MB. Do you want this limit raised? Use QFP for all your file hosting needs. The more traffic we get, the more space we can justify for free.

Why is your page so plain?

Pretty pictures and fancy features take up bandwidth. The purpose of QFP is to provide free file sharing. The fancier we make our page, the less bandwidth we have available for you to use for your files. We have decided to remove the use of images in order to keep our service quick and allow more bandwidth for your downloads.

Why do I have to enter a 3-letter code to upload or download a file?

This verifies that you a real person. This prevents robotic or scripted use of the website. This is a free service for people, and is not intended for computers or bots.

The 3-letter code did not work - I was careful to enter it correctly.

The 3-letter code is only good for 10 minutes or 1 use. If you load the page, go do something else for 10 minutes, then come back the code won't work. Also, if you use the code, and then hit your browser's back button, you will need to reload the page to generate a new 3-letter code.

How long will my file be available after I upload?

Theorectically there is no limit of the amount of time your file will be kept on the server. As long as it is accessed we will keep the file. When it is no longer used, we will remove the file after a period of disuse. Generally, your file will be available for up to 90 days after the last time someone downloaded it. After that it is removed from the system. If the file violates our rules, the file could be removed immediately and without notice. We may modify this time frame, more or less, depending on website usage and available space.

Do you offer a for-pay service that will allow me to post larger files?

Not at this time.

I lost the link to download my file, can you send it to me?

Unfortunately we cannot. The file is encoded, it would be exteremly difficult for us to extract it from the system without the original download link.
